HEALING TRAUMA IS ABOUT RECONNECTING WITH

your lost self

coaching | HYPNOSIS | BRAIN OPTIMIZATION

You have enormous healing potential; the goal is learning to access it.

You deserve to heal. You deserve to be free of the effects of the past. You deserve to reclaim (or even develop for the first  time) a sense of identity that feels good, empowered and purposeful. Together that's what we will do.

Using healing  modalities designed to create a recovery process that is gentle, effective, and guided by you -- your likes and dislikes, pacing and comfort level -- together we will create your personalized trauma recovery program.

MY APPROACH TO TRAUMA RECOVERY

The conditions that can create a traumatic experience are wide and varied including, domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, combat, natural disasters, acrimonious divorce, the death of a loved one, accidents, medical trauma, psychological, emotional and verbal abuse, and bullying. Regardless of your type of trauma it is possible to feel better.

We start from this place of truth: You are not the same person you used to be. Trauma has changed you. There is no going back. Instead, you must discover how to move forward into a new, positive, mentally and physically healthy life and identity.

DOING THE WORK OF TRAUMA RECOVERY

To begin your trauma recovery process we'll examine the status quo. This is where you and I map out and make sense of what posttraumatic symptoms you're struggling with, plus what behaviors, feelings and experiences you wish to change.

Then, we'll identify where you feel stuck, or what's holding you back from making the progress you wish to see.

Next, you and I will work together to figure out a) your personal trauma recovery needs and b) your unique process for creating change.

Then, we'll employ gentle healing modalities to create the change you desire. In each session we'll utilize changework practices to help you work toward shedding the effects of trauma and putting in place new and more positive methods and modes of interacting with yourself, others and the world.

Finally, you and I will design a lifelong methodology and practice for how you will sustain and maintain the healing gains you have achieved.

PHASES OF TRAUMA RECOVERY WORK

We'll approach this journey together through a comprehensive program. In each step of every phase we'll use healing modalities that we collaboratively choose to help support and create positive outcomes. My approach to the process looks like this...

CREATE CALM, CONFIDENCE & CONTROL.png

3 QUESTIONS TO ANSWER

junior-ferreira-7esRPTt38nI-unsplash.jpg

1. Are you tired of talking about the past and still feeling afraid, unhappy, sad or angry in the present?

2. Are you ready to take direct actions to help you move forward mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually?

3. Do you wish that you could transform yourself and your life into an experience that feels good?

If you answered 'yes' to these questions then you're a survivor in a very significant moment: All of the emotional pain you've endured has finally brought you to a place of readiness. Now is time to take charge of what is happening to you today, and to change what happens tomorrow. That's where I come in.

Coaching has a very important function as a healing modality for trauma. Focused on a central process of evaluation, education, intention and changework coaching activates and engages your deep internal resources for reclaiming control over how you live, feel, and experience who you are. The courage, strength and empowerment you discover through the trauma recovery coaching process becomes the foundation for The New You that will last for the rest of your life.

Through the coaching relationship and process you and I will identify exactly what you want to achieve in your trauma recovery approach, how to get there, and the challenges and obstacles to achieving those outcomes. Plus, we'll utilize healing modalities designed to effectively, efficiently and gently facilitate a change in your post-trauma behaviors, thoughts, perceptions, feelings, emotions and experience.

The Process of Change

My intention is to offer you a change process personally designed to help optimize your brain so that you have added support in your ability to transform how you think, what you feel, what you believe, plus how you behave, react and respond in any situation.

Because you are unique and your path to recovery will be completely individual to you there are zero guarantees for how the process will go, how long it will take, what will have to be done or when you will see the ultimate results. What I can promise is that together we will take one step at a time, session by session, at a pace that feels comfortable to you until we reach the outcomes and desires you seek.

When I decided to become a trauma recovery coach I thought very carefully about what I believed was necessary for post-trauma healing, and what training and certifications I would need to facilitate the type of process that I felt was both effective and gentle. In my own trauma recovery I used eleven treatment approaches. Some made me feel a little better; some made me feel a whole lot worse. A few allowed me to really make the gains and changes I was seeking. It is those that I chose to become certified in so that I could offer their usefulness to you.

Additionally, I wanted to be able to offer a program that engaged 100% of your brain. To achieve all of these intentions I successfully attained certifications in coaching (which engages the 12% of your conscious mind), plus hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming (which activate and utilize the power of the 88% of your subconscious mind).

In every session you will have a choice of which modalities you wish to use. I will always know which situations offer the opportunity for specific application of any approach; you will decide what feels comfortable to you, how and when.

A BRIEF NOTE ABOUT HYPNOSIS

Hypnosis has been researched and endorsed as an effective and orthodox healing technique by the American Medical Association, American Psychological Association, British Medical Association, and British Psychological Society. A technique that gently engages your subconscious mind’s enormous power for directing and achieving change, hypnosis has been used in healing arenas for over 4,000 years. Forget what you’ve seen or heard about stage hypnosis – that’s all for show. Anyone you’ve seen quack like a duck, for example, actually chose to quack like a duck. That’s the exciting thing about hypnosis: You and your mind are always in control. You will always only accept the pieces of hypnosis that are in alignment with you, your values and your desires. When you work with an ethical practitioner any and all hypnosis will only offer change processes and experiences that are in complete alignment with what you ultimately want to achieve. Learn more about hypnosis here.

A BRIEF NOTE ABOUT NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a process by which language is used to reframe, reroute and redesign our memories, understanding and feelings about experience. Based on strategies for modeling human excellence NLP is a program designed to use language to interrupt and recreate neural pathways in the brain to optimize human functioning. With this method we can literally sever old trauma neural pathways and replace them with more positive and active perceptions and beliefs. The effects of NLP are often quick, immediate, long-lasting and self-empowering. Learn more about NLP here.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON TRAUMA RECOVERY

In the trauma recovery coaching model you and I have very specific jobs:

Yours is to cope as best you can with symptoms and take the necessary actions that bring about transformation. Mine is to help create a sense of order, develop a program to guide you out of the post-trauma fog, offer and apply healing modalities designed to create change, and help you identify what to do and when to create the healing outcomes you desire.

The most challenging aspect of trauma recovery is this:

While we are all universal in our post-trauma experience (meaning, we all struggle with a range of similar issues) we are completely unique in our healing process. In a perfect world there would be a well-defined recovery approach that works for everyone. In the trauma world there is only trial and error as you seek to create your own personalized program.

There's a benefit to that challenge: By the time you have cobbled together a journey of exploration, discovery and healing you will have created new ways of being and behaving in the world that are unique to you and sustainable for a lifetime. That outcome is the ultimate intention of the collaboration between you and me.

You know yourself better than anyone; I know how to approach healing trauma. Together we'll create a dynamic relationship with a single focus: To develop a trauma recovery approach geared toward identifying and leveraging your strengths, optimizing your brain to make change, and easing the transition away from the grip of the past into the serenity of the present and future.
